About Us

Empowering farmers using climate-smart practices to help businesses thrive in a changing world.

Our History

A family business based in East Yorkshire founded in July 2013, Future Food Solutions (FFSL) began developing innovative programmes for Coca-Cola, Intersnack (KP), and Heineken to build resilience in their supply chains. This began with the Sustainable Future programme to enhance soil structure, fertility and productivity to create a supply chains that was resilient but also more sustainable.

In 2018, after partnering with Yorkshire Water, following their recognition of the connection between soil health and improved water quality, we developed a landscape approach in key catchment areas. This led to the Sustainable Landscapes project, now spanning over 80,000 hectares (18% of Yorkshire’s arable land).

The Sustainable Landscapes Programme’s data-first approach demonstrated the rate and scale of which large amounts of CO2 could be sequestered through the increases made by soil organic carbon.

Partnering with BCarbon and Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy, the University of Leeds, University of Hull and Newcastle University, Future Food Solutions in 2022 were able to issue the first certified carbon credits from soil carbon sequestration in arable soils, earning a place as a runner up in the prestigious COP 2026 Climate Challenge Cup.
