How can farms sequester carbon?
Carbon dioxide is sequestered into the soil via plants through the process of photosynthesis. The soil stores the sequestered carbon dioxide as soil organic carbon (SOC).
Carbon Bank work with farms to implement new or additional nature-based farming solutions which can increase the amount of carbon dioxide that is sequestered into the farmland soil.
Solutions include growing cover crops or catch crops as part of the rotation plan, minimising tillage techniques, and growing companion crops and grass leys in the system.
